More scenes from Calcutta (previous posts 1, 2), this time shot from the medium format camera.
Nope, not terrorist training for young kids, but a street game shooting balloons with a pellet gun.
As large of a city that Kolcata is, it's one place that I refused to take rickshaws around. I don't know of any other places in the world that still have humans pulling around other people, but I just wasn't comfortable with it.

Darjeeling revisited
Over the holidays I finally got around to scanning in my medium format film. A friend saw the ones from a sunrise and asked me if I took them while on an airplane flying through the mountains. I might as well have been, I don't think I've ever seen so many shades of blue before.
Darjeeling monestary
Truly a tranquil place. Of course at 5:30am, there aren't going to be a whole lot of people milling about anyways.

Yosemite and geocoding photos
So lately I've been having fun playing with an x-mas present to myself, a nifty GPS unit. One of the great things you can do is geocode photos. A map can display the location of the photos, as well as the hiking path taken. Take a look at some recent shots from Yosemite! If you have Google Earth (click to download), download and double click on this file and you can zoom in on the trail taken and photos. It looks like the screenshot below.
Of course, if you don't have Google Earth, you can always check out the slightly less nifty Yahoo map on the Flickr site. http://flickr.com/photos/tlo/map/

Enjoy the jellies
It's been awhile since my last entry, more to come... In the meantime, enjoy the jellyfish. The jellyfish exhibit at the Monterey Bay aquarium has to be nature's equivalent of the lava lamp.
