Welcome to Blue Creek

Welcome to Blue Creek, population 232.

While in southern Belize, I ended up staying in some rural Mayan communities through the guesthouse program by the Toledo Ecotourism Association (more about it later). My first stop was the beautiful village of Blue Creek.

Yes, there actually was a gorgeous blue creek running through town. It made for an ideal swimming spot with the hot weather.

The water from the creek came from the Hokeb Ha Cave.

The natural beauty in the southern Belizan rainforest was gorgeous...

Even though the town was called Blue Creek, it could also have been called Blue Sky. For some reason, the sky looked quite large.
